Vision Statement of our Founder
"Our endeavour in the V.K.M. was to link up education with culture. While seeing that the higher standards at the academic end are maintained we felt that the girls should inspire the finest cultural traditions of the land…. Our educational effort was to synthesise full freedom with total sense of responsibility."
Run by Besant Education Fellowship and situated in the precincts of the Theosophical Society, V. K. M is affiliated to Banaras Hindu University, the glorious temple of learning created by Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya. As it has been admitted to the privileges of Banaras Hindu University V.K.M. implements the syllabus provided by Banaras Hindu University upholding the ideals and vision of Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya on the one hand and lays distinct stress on specific set of curricular and extra mural activities continuously being managed and monitored at the institutional level for the promotion of the philosophy of Annie Besant on the other. Our Founder Principal-Smt. Leela Sharma

Photo 1 V.K.M. feels indebted to its first principal Smt. Leela Sharma who along with her sisters had responded to the call of Mahatma Gandhi to join the 1942 Movement. Later during the post Independence days when she joined V.K.M, Leela ji infused her strong nationalistic fervour into her young students to make them better Indians. Her unsurpassable sense of selfless dedication and commitment nourished the tender roots of the college and gradually chiselled it into an institution which attracted students not only from Varanasi but also from other states of India as well.
